I know You Got Soul! Spot Light On
"Gangsters Dedications"vol.2
audio/story by Mr.David Madrid
April 29, 2009

Block2Block chops it up with the homeboy Sleeps of the "Soul Strivers" talking
about the new"Gangsters dedications" oldies compilation.

What's happening? This is Mr. David Madrid host of Block2Block Radio and The San Jo Soul Show. I realize that we are in the mist of some crazy times, major layoffs, violence in our streets and the swine fluÉ.Damn!   Sometimes we just need to get away, even without leaving.   I tend to escape by kicking back and blasting my stereo whether in the ride or at the pad. And If you have ever tuned in to the Block2Block Show you know I love that classic soul music.

Man I'm stuck in the late 60's and early 70's!!! ain't nothing like a little Al Green, Donny Hathaway or a little new skool Lee Fields for that matter to set me strait and make everythingÉ. All right!

Down below is C.D. review for a new rare soul oldie compilation that has just dropped. I had the pleasure of interviewing the "Soul Strivers" a close group of Bay Area soul 45 record collectors that are behind the compilation. So if you like the rare grooves, you need to check this one out.

Gangsters Dedications Vol. 2

The soul strivers have done it again! That's right, Gangster Dedications volume 2 has just dropped. And It's truly a ÒSuperbÓ compilation, that's a must have for any rare soul music lover and collector. There are 23 tracks of solid soul. There is a little something for every one on this c.d. there is a good balance of male and female vocal groups and a great mixture of slow and mid tempo tracks that will keep you floating all the way through. One of the tracks sounds raw, strait off the vinyl - Pee Wee, Shuck & Huey's ÒI know we're in loveÓ this lets you know how rare and unique this compilation truly is.

There are a lot of great tunes found on this c.d. but some stand outs would have to be Ernest Bolden's ÒI'm talking about loveÓ the Shades of Brown's ÒHow could you love himÓ and Satisfaction Unlimited's ÒLet's change the subjectÓ. Like I said there is something for everyone and I'm sure you will find your own favorite tracks on this c.d.
