Shots from the Once Beautiful Bay I just visited the Bay and what I saw was sickening. As one side of the bay was all beautiful and cleaned up (The Marina, and Crissey Fields) on the other side of the Golden Gate was still oil filled and ugly. The recent San Francisco Bay oil spill has affected us in more ways than one, and will probably change the way we do things in the Bay as far as transporting is concerned. Not only is our eco-system in the Bay going to be damaged for long time to come, but to know the severity of the damage, you have to understand just how the Bay's tides work. While our waters are being dragged out to the ocean, so is the oil, and as the tides are dragged back in, again so is the oil. It's not sure where the oil is going to be from one day to the next and this is troubling. The Bay is in a constant swirl and this is why we need to pay close attention to our shores. Don't just leave everything up to the Coast guards to soak up all of the oil. We, as a concerned people that live near and love our beautiful shores, should do what we can to contribute. I'm not saying that if you see some oil sludge on the shore you should just go over and pick it up. It's very toxic and you should first learn how to handle this nasty stuff before going into action. I'm still learning about the still effected areas and will be posting more photos soon. I am ashamed of the slow response and the cover-ups the government as showed us. Let this be a lesson to us all and do something about it so that this does not happen again. Gypsy.
