Lean On Me...
The following writing is by authors who share their experiences of when they had to lean on somebody. Through our most difficult, and perhaps lonely, moments we all search for someone to support us. Below are testimonies of when these authors have had someone to lean on.

Just You
By M.S. Venom
When there is someone to talk to, to let out feelings, cares and worries I think I need you. Someone who's always there to give me hugs, opinions and to be helpful in ways they just wouldn't. Just to see their smiles. To hear them laugh. Or feel their touch. You will make the day better. You are my someone to lean on.
Thank you.
Working and Learning to
Trust Myself
December Green
Finding someone to lean on has been hard. I would say my family, but they didn't really understand what I was going through. The so called ÒfriendsÓ you make in the drug world, were never really there, you couldn't count on them even when you really needed them. True friends are few, which then caused me to develop some trust issues. Now that I am clean and sober I am still working on myself. Even though I'm still weary of a lot people, slowly I am beginning to give my trust to them Starting with my family, although I should be earning their trust back and not the other way around. I really need to learn to trust myself before I can truly trust anyone else.
No One Was There For Me Except Grandma and Grandpa
By Cassandra Anderson
I am now an inmate of Santa Clara County, and there have been times when I have leaned on people particularly my grandparents. The whole time I have been incarcerated my grandparents have really been there for me. They kept money on my books and they have always accepted my collect calls. They were visiting me every week. They even got friends to bring me a book called ÒThe Purpose Driven Life.Ó My grandparents really supported me through my rehabilitation. They are even going to let me stay with them when I get out. Them doing this means a lot to me. I am a former drug addict and have done them wrong. I have spent my whole incarceration period in drug treatment programs. Now that I'm at work furlough, I'm preparing to continue my drug treatment by getting into an outpatient program and preparing to live in a sober living environment upon my release into the free world. It means a lot to me that my grandparents can see I am sincere about my sobriety and they support me every step of they way.
For Others I'm That Someone Who They Can Lean On
Judy Smith
I knew this guy named Roy who used to be very mean to me. Roy is an elderly man. Back in his earlier years he used to do drugs, but now he is clean and has been for 14 years. He used to live with his girlfriend and another roomate in an apartment. One day his girlfriend called me and told me that Roy was going to be evicted from his apartment and he had a three day notice. I wasn't sure what else to do so I prayed and asked God to make a way. When I called I told him about a few places that could help him pay his rent. But before we got there I told him just let me go ahead and do the talking because they wouldnt give him any money because they didn't give money to people in the area where he lives. I called someone who I knew could help. I can say God led me to him. I left a message on his answering machine with Roy's phone number. The next day he called back. I told him that Roy needed a check for $300.00 to pay his rent before 5pm. God works miracles. In those short hours we took the bus to the place to pick up the check. When he explained he said that the check that was supposed to be sent for the rent had accidently been sent to the phone company. He had to make a few calls to clear up the situation and the phone company sent the money order back to him. I am so glad that I was able to help Roy.
