Dreams
We all have dreams, but we don't always remember them. We asked the women at workfurlough what their dreams were like and what they meant to them.

My Grandmother's Visits
Shorti

One dream which stood out and will stay with me for ever is the one with an elder lady all in white standing in front of me talking, but I couldn't hear her. Over the years, I dreamt her 3 times. After the 2 nd dream I tripped out cause I didn't know this lady and I couldn't hear what she said. I told my mom about the lady and described her. My mom told me it was my grandmother I never met. So when I had the 3 rd one I felt happy and special that she visited me again. I'm hoping I'll have a lot more of them before I die.

My Dreams Let Me Know I'll be OK
Diane Rodriguez

I sometimes have dreams of money. Either I win the Lotto or I'm winning at a casino. Sometimes I come up finding it in a paper bag.

My dreams mean that I'm going to be well off one day. Either having a great job or really winning the lottery or winning at a Casino.

Not My Time
Diane Wittbrody

This is a true story. Last September I got sick and was in the hospital for thirteen days. I was on antibodies and morphine. I had a very bad infection in the joints in my shoulders and could not move. I was in ICU and they weren't sure I was going to make it. One night after I was there about 7 days and really bad off, I had what I'd call a dream. I was walking down a hallway and I came to a door that was shut, but you could see a very bright light around the whole door. Then I just walked away. I think it was God telling me it's not my time yet. I got better and here I am today.

This Dream Will Come True
Elsie Denise Lopez

My dreams are to reunify with my family and children. I have 6 children that I love and miss dearly and a loving boyfriend. My dream is to come home and be a mom and take care of my family. I have 5 boys, 1 beautiful daughter, and a wonderful boyfriend who has been there since I've been in jail.

Michelle De la Rosa

Dreams, nothings, meanings, sometimes readings
We rest our eyes when we get tired and receive our daily screenings.
Sometimes we fall or we may even get married,
See our lost loved ones whom we had once buried.
We take them seriously or we just let them fly,
Wake up smiling or in a cold sweat and cry.
Who's to say your guess is right or wrong?
True, deja vu, of a fairy tale song.
Dreams can mean so much more than we think them to be or give them credit for
But I have this dream that comes not when I sleep
But a dream to live long and to stand up and speak
I'm a part of this new generation
To live my life sober in this tough situation.
I'm a positive mind influenced by my soul.
And this dream I speak of is my Future Recovery
My lifetime goal.

The Mean Bruce Dream
J

I have these dreams about my husband, who by the way is one of the kindest, gentle man I know. But I have these horrible dreams that he becomes mean to me Ð not violent he just is mean! He won't talk to me, or he is talking to another woman. He picks arguments. So when I wake up I usually won't talk to him, he'll ask every time, ÒOkay, what did I do now?Ó He can tell by the look on my face that I had the Òmean bruceÓ dream again. It drives him nuts.

A Warning
Rosa M. Martinez

Some of my dreams include me flying over the town. My most recent dream was my sister and I both flying and the scary thing is that my sister is dead. In my dream my sister is warning me and telling me that my son is in danger. Then I woke up screaming and in a sweat.

Stops it!

Really I feel as if I am still in a dream and need someone to wake me up from this place and the reality of being incarcerated. It's just like the old saying, ÒLife is but a dream.Ó

In These Dreams I Can't Defend Myself
Heather Hubert

Sometimes I will dream about getting into a fight with someone or struggling with someone who is trying to hurt me and when I attempt to fight them off no matter how hard I try, when I punch I have no power and I cannot hurt them or fight them off. It's really weird because I will try with all my might, but my punches just land soft and I wake up frustrated and scared because I can't defend myself. I am not really sure what the meaning of it is.

My Dreams are Part of My Days
Linda Williams

My dreams are sometimes a part of my day that I feel was weighing heavily on my mind prior to me going to bed that night. My dreams are also very vivid and seem very real. I dream every night, sometimes I can remember them and sometimes I can't.
