Allegiance
Poem by Christopher Patrick Nelson

O Stars and bars,
Blue background with fifty
Pentagrams put on forth the flag,
And the rest red,
Or white in lines,
Tricolor treason will fly you
For cameras,
But burn your unfurled heart
In secret hearings ---
Not stop this trample of spangles,
O our banner,
O our manifest essence.
