Katrina
Poem by Simon

In scorching heat five days on a roof some more, without water or food
While heat helicopter hovering over head, do you think they'll drop a bottle of water?
Those who got rescued to the Stadium of Hell
Unsanitary, No security
Lack of water or food
While corps piling up from young to old
Insanity kicked in, survival mode
Media photographers writing about people acting like animals
You go without as long as they have
Mixed with shock and devastation, lost everything, including their kin
To compound the problem this is supposed to be a Super Power
Pure neglect, race and class insensitivity
Out of broken windows has gone, analytical thinking
It's all about instinct
The animal inside has taken over this man's soul
Aimlessly walking in the super-polluted water
Didn't even acknowledge the helicopter taking pictures overhead
He has passed the flagging stage
Someone shouted, ÒDo you need help?Ó
He replied with blank stare
