Soundtrack of the Struggle
The ÒRock the BellsÓ Concert   Shows the New Faces of Hip Hop
Story by Adrian Avila

San Bernardino - For the third year in a row, the musical and cultural phenomenon known as ÒRock The BellsÓ went on in southern California. There was a mixture of fresh underground hip-hop acts and some well know names that came together under the hot California sun to deliver one of the biggest shows of the year. The 100 degrees day could not keep the true hip-hop heads for catching their favorite acts, such as Hieroglyphics, Living Legends, Nas, Talib Kwali, Sage Francis, Visionaries and many more.

What is really great about events such as Rock The Bells is that they bring together acts that would normally not be seen together, such as a white underground MC such as Sage Francis and the world known rap legend Nas. It is a melting pot for the pure essences of hip-hop. In many ways it is what true hip-hop is, people getting together to enjoy life to the soundtrack of the struggle. People from all walks of life made it out to the event, many drove for hours just to attend one of the year's biggest events. The integrity of the fans was put to the test when the sun set over their heads on that Saturday afternoon.

Many of the people in the crowed stood surrounded by other hardcore fans willing to endure the heat of the hot southern California sun. It was a big day for the culture of Hip-Hop. One could see that the culture has taken off from it's original roots from the streets of the New York burros and has entered the suburbs. It was clear that the faces of Hip-Hop have changed as much as the fans. The many races that made up the crowed on that hot Saturday afternoon all came together as one to enjoy a full day of some of the freshest acts out there. As the speakers thumped and bumped out classics and some new joints, the vibe at Rock the Bells was almost overwhelming. It was hard not to lose yourself in the rhythm of the soul of Hip-Hop.
