Into The Wood
Poem by Anamul Huq
art by Thuy Ngo and Fernando Amaro Jr.

Come with me into the wood
come away with me from the
concrete life of the city,
to learn the puzzling beauty
of insane serenity.

Here heaven is nigh, sky not so high
come here with me if you dare to fly,
here fountain washes away your fatigue birds sing your forgotten lyric,
flowers festoon your dreams, and the
river carries news from distant realms.

Here no clamour to steal the silence
No formality of mock pretense,
here the mountains reflect thought
with jagged frown and worried crease
it will answer whatever you sought.

Here light isn't trapped in glasses
and sneaks through the forest canopy
to kiss your many a faces, here stage is bare to say new prayer
in this innocent beauty, color is nameless, God is everywhere to bestow his bless.

Here moonlight wrap itself around you
the grass woven ground takes its hue,
to break your old and make you whole
come into the wood to reclaim your soul.
