Dogs and Cats
Poetry by: Christopher Patrick Nelson
Art by: Fernando Amaro Jr.

When felines fly up fences, cry
Out calls to females, fight nearby,
And haul home with a missing ear,
We do not beat them asking why.

We do not whip them till they fear
From kittenhood, or try to rear
A tomcat howling like a hound -
Unless our minds are cruel and queer.

When girls grow up, their hips get round
And woman-wide, with fat around,
While boys grow shoulders broad as that,
From skinny kids to muscle-bound.

The fashion mags beat with a bat
To train her to where men are at.
There's nothing wrong with any cat.
There's nothing wrong with any cat.
