Madonna Shakes Her Tale Feather in San Jose

Time goes by, so slowly, then before you know it, Madonna is back in San Jose, California.

It is the start of show time, and all the lights go out. Then a huge disco ball comes down like the apple in New York. At least three months ago, Madonna was in an accident where she fell off her horse and broke a rib, leg, and other limbs. Everyone wondered if she would be able to tour again like she did in the past. When others who have had a similar accident might have had a fear of horses after something like that, she seemed to embrace horses. Horses turned out to be one of the themes for part of the show.

She had her dancers dressed like horses, who rushed to the disco ball, then the disco ball transformed to the likes of a space ship where she's greeted by man horses and female jockeys. Madonna was dressed as a jockey as well, and then she made her way to a merry-go-round with one saddle with a big pole where she rode the saddle and slung on the pole as she sang,   “Like a Virgin.” Then before you knew it, a huge jungle gym like thing came down from the sky as she did her song “Jump.” Here, dancers did gymnastic routines that Barnum and Bailey have nothing on.

The next segment of the show starts with her hitting all the points of the hardships of society, with video images of world leaders, dictators, war, and natural disasters. This is done with an up tempo base line. She was trying to encourage people to see the shits going on in our world and to not only speak up about them, but to take action!

Then at the end of that one, the words on the screen read, the audience is listening, and a huge image of a cross appears. She is singing “Live to Tell” as she was strapped on the cross, then she unleashes herself from the cross. The platform comes down like an elevator, and she transitions into “Forbidden Love.” It is here where, through the projected video images of hands holding other hands, then moving, she hits up on how love is more accepted between a man and a woman, but not for same sex partners.

After this statement, a male dancer dressed in a Middle Eastern outfit, starts blowing his horn. His name turns out to be Isaac, which is also the name of the song he and Madonna sing. As he sang, a huge cage came down, and in the cage was this woman all covered up on the ground. As Madonna came close to the cage, she releases the girl, as she unrobed.   Here, Madonna is kind of telling the girl its cool to be who you are, then the girl unrobes some more and she is dressed like Princess Jasmine. She dances to the center of the stage then vanishes. Madonna was in the cage looking hot. Even Madonna just standing there is a sight to behold. And there was this segment where she rocked out on a guitar like a rock legend. The power in her riffs impressed everyone, cause the last tour, she was looking at her fingers as she played her instruments. I thought that was cute, even though I know she started as a drummer and bass player in her early days. She really took that guitar like a rock n roll sprit encountered her body and took it over. As she played, she yelled at every one to get off their seats and dance!

Towards the end of the show, the break dancing started, and yes, Madonna can shake her tale feather like no other diva. Unlike most singers, Madonna got into the groove, she was breaking like whaaat!

After the show was over, I asked one of the dancers (Norman aka Shay) what is it like being on a show of this magnitude. He said it all, when he said it was “Dope.”
