Blood Stained Tears
Poem by Debbie Budnick
Art by Fernando Amaro Jr.

Skyús so gray, extremely bleak

yielding no pain to cry

rivers of blood stained tears

ravaging anger stalking its prey

seeking no revenge upon the strong

but waiting, waiting in silence

to scream, to lash out

at the weak, the lonely

disabling hope for the future life

winds rush in, jumping, spinning

through obstacles unwilling to bend

those bleak, gray skies turn an awful black

its anger lashing out at unsuspecting victims

slowly the rains fall gently

soon becoming a lion's roar

pain cries out loud, blood stained tears

rivers overflowing their banks

bursting at the seams of life

soon to die off to cry no more

sky's so gray and bleak

yielding no life for future endeavors

cry out loud those blood-stained tears

cry, let it out

but realize no one shows kindness, any love

your hope fades away

leaving you stranded forever

with blood stained tears

upon the pillow case once pure white
