A Victorious Day for Pro-immigrant Movement Campbell- It was a victorious day for the pro-immigration movement on Saturday when 50 plus pro-immigrant protesters took over the streets of Campbell to over power the chants of the 11 or more Minutemen supporters. Over 11 supporters stood out on the southeast corner of the Bascom and Hamilton intersection with American flags held high tried to over power the voices of the pro-immigrant rights supporters that had taken up all four corners including the corner that the Minutemen had claimed for their own. ÒWe have to show these raciest people that we do not fear themÓ, said one of the members from Students for Justice -- a group made up of college students that stand up for student rights which is located on many san Jose college campuses.
For a minute it felt like sparks were going to be flying when a group of Minutemen supporters got in the faces of the pro-immigration supporters and demanded to know why they felt that they had the right to be in this country taking up all of the citizens resources? ÒWe didn't cross the border, the border crossed usÓ. This was the response from the pro-immigrant group that did not seamed to be fazed by the angry protesters. ÒWe came out to let the horrible people in this community that no human can me illegalÓ said 22-year old San Jose City College student who identified herself only as Maria. And as the 11 or so minutemen supporters packed up their flags and signs after 2 hours of protest that three dozen remaining immigrant rights supporters that felt like their day in the sun shouting chants ended up triumphant.
