| Farewell Wicked Winds Poem by Debbie Budnick // art by Wesley Vara round and round, swirling, blowing
yet the wind forever pushes its way through life's little secrets of uneasiness slowly you rise to stand against the violence of the forthcoming blows of the wicked winds torture chamber its bone chilling slaps pierce your skin but you stand your ground soon to reach your goal of happiness your freedom from terror no longer desired upon the Earth so eloquent, so beautiful in the distance you notice trees swaying and bending but never breaking to pieces never shattering forever and you hope, you pray that you too are as strong and stable as those trees then you reach out to feel, to find a doorknob grasped by your numb fingers slowly your hand turns and pushes as the door is opened wide for you the warmth, the friendliness of home welcomes you to stay awhile away from the temper of the wind you shut the door quietly and the wind bids you so long for now as it dies off in the distant lands knowing how strong, how happy you really are, how happy you always will be farewell wicked winds good-bye
