San Jose, California is known for many different things and during the 90's because of its booming technology industry San Jose earned the nickname the Capital of Silicon Valley. San Jose is the third largest city in California and the tenth largest in the United States. When it comes to Spanish Rap, San Jose again holds its unique place in its history. In the early 90's students of San Jose State started to import Spanish Rap records from Mexico's Underground and began to play them at the college's radio station which to this day cover seven Bay Area counties, but it wasn't until acts like Tiro de Gracia, Sindicato Argentino del Hip Hop, Punto Rojo and Control Machete in the mid to late 90's that the movement really took off in San Jose. With the help of the heavy Spanish Rock and Hip Hop alternative programming of KSJS (90.5 FM) and the constant touring of these acts, specially Control Machete that help solidified movement, becoming the so called "Cultura En Tu Idioma"

Today, Sindicato Argentino del Hip Hop, Tiro de Gracia and Control Machete are long gone but they left their Latin Hip-Hop foot prints forever. The Latino Hip Hop movement is far from being gone. New waves of artists have continued the work that was once started by the groups before them and San Jose, California continues to be a place for international Spanish Rap and Rappers.

On May 30th 2009, The Silicon Valley De-Bug Community Center which is located just off downtown San Jose continues its series of Spanish / Latin movement coined "Cultura en Tu Idioma" which will be starring two of today's most important Mexican Rappers together for the very first time outside of Mexico, Boca Floja from Mexico City and Sekreto from Gomez Palacio, Durango. Cultura En Tu Idioma also will feature a list of local Hip-Hop and alternative talents. As always this is an all age’s event and not only featuring live music but also live painting, foods, vendors and much more.
