It's Your Choice, So What Is it?
In our last women's work furlough session we listened to India Arie's Song, I Choose, we heard her proclamations about the kind of person she chooses to be and then asked them to create their own song after listening to India's inspirational song.

My Interpretation
By Christina

What I got out of the song is all the things I do are decisions I make in my life to be right or wrong. There's going to be times when that are not so good experiences, but I can choose to change my decisions, nobody can do it for me. It's ok to be myself, nobody can hold me back or do everything for me. I need to understand my life is not always easy, but I will always learn from what I do in the long run.

What I hope when I get out is that I can focus on the decision I make to just stay strong through whatever I have to face that becomes a challenge. Whether I go back to my old lifestyle or I meet it in the future I hope I can just do the right thing and be proud of my decisions.

I Choose to be Around my Family and Positive People
Anita Maniz

Well I am getting out on Monday March 26 2007. From now on I'm choosing to do things differently. I choose to get a job this time and stay with my family and do more things with them. I also want to be around my kids more and be around people who are clean. I know by doing this it will also help me because I know that they will care for me and things will be all right.

Challenges That Will Arise
Sonia Gutierrez

My challenges are going to begin when I get out on May 3, 2007. The challenge is trying to pay off my restitution. I'll be happy to see my family but keeping up the communication is another challenge.

When I start new I won't look in the past. I'm going to let it go and go forward. I'll talk to my children about making choices and realizing that their choices have consequences.
