Immigrants Take The Streets of San Josˇ - Part 1
Photospread by Elizabeth Gonzalez and Adrian Avila

History was made this weekend across the United States. Immigrants all over the nation took to the streets in protest of the proposed bill HR4437 that would criminalize undocumented persons and those who assist them. In San Josˇ, thousands gathered in the East Side to denounce the racist attacks by the government against the same people who have made this country what it is. The numbers in the streets have been unprecedented for the movement of the Latino community; the sleeping giant has woken up.

Hand in hand we took to the streets - No permits, No cops

Soulful marchers walk by the Mexican Heritage Plaza on King Road.

The united message was that immigrants are hard workers not criminals

The Mexican flag is reflected in a puddle of water that collected from the rain in a East Side parking lot near Story and King

This isn't about immigration...it's about ILLEGAL immigration. The protests by immigrants misrepresent the issue at hand...it's violation of the law that is the issue. The ILLEGAL immigration must stop, and those who are here illegaly must be deported. No one is taking issue with legal immigration. I am beginning to see the law as irrelevant...day by day I watch violations of the law with the approval of our elected officials and violations being committed by elected officials and corporate giants on a daily basis...so what is the f***ing law anyway? Maybe the immigrants are right...who the f*** cares about the law?
