What Kind of Support Do Mothers Need These Days?
Recently there has been a lot of women in the news who have killed their own children. We dont know the complete reason for this. What we asked women at WRC is what they thought contributes to a woman going as far as to kill her own child and what support are these women lacking that would help them and their children?
They Depend On Us

We as mothers need to understand that our kids depend on us to give them the love and support that they need. In order to do that we need to be able to have them depend on us in every way. If we feel we need help with something then we need to ask for it and not be ashamed of what people think. There are many programs out there for us to utilize them whether it be counseling or something else. We need to do it for our kids because they need us. 
A Lending Hand Can Help a Mother's Situation

Honestly, I think these women who are killing their children are insane and need help. How can you kill your own flesh and blood? But if I were to think of a reason why they had to go that way is because they had no way of caring for their child in any way such as no family, financial, moral, spiritual and emotional support. IÕm blessed to have so much support and for my child to be surrounded by so much love.Ê
Mom Needs Time For Herself

I think the mothers who killed their children are probably single mothers, overwhelmed and stressed out. She feels isolated and alone. Also the financial stability plays a major factor. These women need emotional and physical, and financial support. They need to be able to talk to a close friend or relative, preferable someone who can relate to their present situation. Also outlets like time to herself, away from the children at times when she is just totally feeling withdrawn and distant because being in that state of mind will often cause the mother to react irrationally.
Others Need to Step In

I think that first and foremost, single moms need the support of immediate families and friends and if this support is not available to them they need to seek help from the county. ItÕs more important to have family look out for the welfare of the kids if they know that the mother has an illness that could hinder their decision making. They should keep a close eye on the mother and make sure that she is taking care of herself like getting counseling if thatÕs the case. ItÕs the responsibility of the man to seek and help or make other advancements to get the kids help.
