Song that Makes Fun of Tsunami Victims Gets Ripped
Asian Rapper Gets Back at Racist Parody Song

Story by Angel Luna

Man, what people do for a cheap laugh now a days! Last week I got the word by my e-mail and in my MySpace account that somebody did a horrible song mocking the Tsunami victims.   It aired on a major station in New York called Hot 97.   I could not believe it, so I checked a link to an mp3 of this stupid song to see if it was real. I played the thing for almost all my coworkers, some thought it wasn't really that big of deal, but most were stunned by the racism, the hate and the animosity that was put towards the making of this song. The song was calling Asians chinks, saying they should drown, and that God is laughing at them.   It even took a shot at the kids that suffered from the tsunami.   It told the kids that their mommy was killed, so now they were going to be sold to a sweatshop. It was pretty disgusting.

I don't know what the f*&^   Miss Jones(The   DJ that aired the song) was thinking. Maybe she was high on a cup of coffee or maybe she had some issues with some Asian folks. But this thing that she aired was just tasteless and I think she knows better about being discriminated   against. Come on, you are black, by common sense you have lived some racism at least once in your life right? And to do this to some other race that is going through some hard times is just not an honorable thing to do.

Down the line, I read some apologies from Miss Jones and from Hot 97, but they were pretty weak and pretty lame. It was more like, ÒOkay, I messed up, lets get this over.Ó   There was no feeling in it, nor was it a legitimate   apology to the Asian community.   Anybody, can say I'm sorry, but will this public sorry guarantee that she or somebody else in Hot 97 will not do another stupid song like that?

A day after I heard the Hot 97 song, I heard a diss song about it. It's by Jin, the MC from Ruff Ridders.   He is an Asian-American, and is getting a lot of national attention in the hip hop world. Jinn let Miss Jones, and all the people that thought that this song was funny, know that if this was your race it will not be funny.   He makes a strong point that Hot 97's insult would have outraged more people if it was another race. I gone a let you heard what Jin had to say about the situation.   Pay attention, listen what he has to say, because Jin brings to light how wrong people like Miss Jones can be while trying to boost here career.
