One In The Same
By Kefing Aperto-Berry

Truly there is only one race, the human race that is
We only become racist as we get older, we can't tell the difference when we are kids
Sure skin and speech may not be the same
But that's God's beauty -- far from plain
We have more in common than we may see
Think about that now, wouldn't you agree?
We all seek after love, we all need shelter
We all hurt when rejected, striving for a life that's better
I know that's true, don't even think of calling me a liar
We all search for acceptance being that person someone could admire
Even though I can see I was raised colorblind
Friends of all races made me feel at home all the time
We all bleed red blood, there is no other color
So why can't we agree and make peace with one another?
From the beginning of time, we have all been faced with this challenge
Maybe things will change once we begin to acknowledge
The truth of who we are and the fact that we are all related
Every last one of us whether we love it or we hate it.
