Director of Programs
Salary Range: $40,000 Ð $42,000
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervises: Program Managers, summer interns, and possibly some volunteers Summary:
The Director of Programs is responsible for supervising and evaluating the core programs of Bayshore Christian Ministries. This position also includes development of new programs and program components. As a member of the Executive Staff Team, the Director of Programs helps formulate and strategically implement the vision of the organization, as well as speaking on behalf of BCM in various settings.
Specific duties include:
1. Supervise Program Managers
2. Conduct or manage the evaluation of all youth programs
3. Organize presentations, meetings and functions on behalf of the ED.
4. Ensure that programs consistently follow established standards and policies.
Duties required as member of executive staff team:
1 Travel out-of-town in order to teach, speak, and present at churches, chapel services, fellowship meetings, and classes. Also, represent BCM at informational booths.
2 Locally, teach, speak, and present at churches, chapel services, fellowship meetings, and classes. Also, represent BCM at informational booths.
3 Be available as a resource when staff, interns or volunteers seek the guidance of a senior leader.
4 Provide input whenever policies are created or reviewed.
5 Be available as a substitute in the absence of another executive staff member, which may involve conducting team or staff meetings on their behalf.
6. Present reports, as needed, to the Board of Directors. Required: ¥Deep commitment to the mission of the organization
¥ Agreement with the Statement of Faith.
¥ Experience leading or mentoring adults in the context of a church or other Christian ministry setting.
¥ Strategic thinking, skills in program planning and evaluation.
¥ Great communication skills Ð written and verbal, to individuals and small groups.
¥ Comfort and familiarity with computers, e-mail, and word processing.
Preferred:
¥ Experience as a supervisor of full-time staff in a Christian ministry or other non-profit organization.

Head Teacher Stepping Stones
Position: Fixed Term, ideally from April 17 through August 18, 2006
Salary Range: $4,400-$4,800/month, with no benefits
Reports to: Director of Programs
Supervises: Four junior staff, volunteer tutors
Summary:
Stepping Stones is a six-week summer program for 24 children from East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park who are completing grades K-2. The program provides an excellent academic foundation, especially in developing literacy. Bayshore Christian Ministries seeks an experienced teacher who will lead this program, primarily through four student interns.
Curriculum Development:
1. Determine the six themes to be covered for one week each.
2 Outline daily activities related to each theme:
3.Large Group Ð calendar, story, singing, etc.
4. Small Group Ð math, science, critical thinking, etc.
5.
Small Group Ð language arts and reading.
3 Outline additional activities for daily learning centers.
Jr. Staff/Intern Training:
1 Provide interns with overview of the program, educational philosophy, and effective teaching methods.
2 Introduce each theme to interns with explanation of activities which they will lead.
3 Provide ongoing feedback to interns.
Teaching Duties:
1 Direct the large group activities at the start and finish of each day.
2 Lead one learning center activity (four times) each day.
3 Supervise one ÒunstaffedÓ learning center each day.
Program Coordination:
1 Interact with volunteer reading tutors.
2 Coordinate logistics for snacks, outings, etc.
Required:
¥Deep commitment to the mission of the organization
¥ Agreement with the Statement of Faith
¥Teaching experience with early primary students, relevant credential strongly preferred
¥Experience using running records to assess student reading levels and inform instruction
¥ Ability to implement a guided reading program
¥Strong organizational and communication skills
¥Ability to guide and motivate interns Ð young adults who have no teaching background

¥ Experience with children from East Palo Alto or a similar community
¥ Spanish language ability Ð spoken and written
