FEBRUARY 2008 FEATURED PHOTOGRAPHER

BEN MARTINEZ

AN INTERVIEW WITH BEN...

Darkroom: Hi Ben! Tell everyone your name..

Ben: Ben.

Darkroom: Any names people call you?

Ben: Big ben

Darkroom: Okay..how did you get into photography?

Ben: I got into photography by accident. I think it was around high school. I was into art already and I started to learn more about visual reference. Then i met Charisse Domingo who showed me the way of the jedi.

Darkroom: Well, that way is always the preferred way. What is your favorite picture?

Ben: My favorite picture is probably the one of the empty bus. It always brings me old memories.

Darkroom: Yeah...that is a very nice photo. I like the way you were able to capture motion within the bus. What do you like taking photos of?

Ben: I like taking photos of everything I see. I wish I can develop my memories in a darkroom more.

Darkroom: You know you're always welcome here! Do you do digital and/or film?

Ben: I started with digital and learned with film. Digital to me is fun but film is like the sound of
vinyl.

Darkroom: That's a cool reference. Do you see yourself doing this for a while?

Ben: Art is everything to me. It keeps my heart beating, so I'll always keep a camera near.

Darkroom: That's how you gotta do it! Any shout-outs?

Ben: Shouts to my family, ericacious, chooch, the de-bugistas, the 129, the 47, deism, death and destruction.

Darkroom: Thanks Ben!
