Hey
My Male Friend...
Poem by Erin Traylor
Art by Wesley Vara
Man
it's cool that I sparked your interest
Because we can be friends
and feed eachother ideas to digest
But the moment your touch crosses over my border,
I'm going to wonder if you have some sort of
delusional disorder,
Because you seem to have delusions
that a man and woman can't just be friends,
That just because you're attracted,
our physical boundaries should end.
So when is it okay to put your arms
around me,
to kiss me on the cheek
and think that I am yours by decree?
The moment you decide to violate
my space,
The further you distance me from any
sort of embrace.
You see I've been affectionate
since creation,
But I always decide when I want
to bring that to manifestation,
and if you don't understand
this there's obviously
been some sort of miscommunication,
so from here on consider this my declaration.
Because it's cool that I sparked your interest
and we can still be friends,
But I want you to be concious
of when your touch starts to offend.
