My
Bad Dreams Part I
Our Water and Light
By: Sinohui
I
am just a relative that wants to play in the rain dance in the sun and
change our fate
When
we step outside pollution
Our human evolution brings acid rain
Clothes are stained and we must hide away
In the shelter of concrete jungles
Places that don't allow roots to find homes
As a child I laughed and played in the rain
Stepped on puddles to splash water on my friends
Now I know that it burnt because we couldn't find a better way to get
from point A
In the sun I could set out to get a tan
My mom would yell and tell me that my skin would scorch
As skin cancer grew on my grandfathers back
We hide away
The recommended SPF gets higher everyday
As the ozone in no more from rocket ships making needless trips to outer
space
Freon for ac's mass marketed and produced
The things that we use don't make biodegradable refuse
These are our action without aforethought of chemical reactions
Or the status of our relations that don't hide behind artificial shelters
During our mission of progression
The frogs that died on the sides of the freeways are a sign of us
Catalysts to a broken cycle of life
Our battle with pollution ends at compromise
For paper and conveniences we poisoned the water and light Miracle drugs
and state of the art
Children with fins, artificial hearts
Radiation to bring annihilation
Agent Orange and anthra
spores
An economy that relies on smog in the sky
We live our lives with little options if we care
Everyday we all still breathe the same poisoned air
Toxic emissions producing big commissions
Some may afford to purchase a new lung
Still others will survive not live
With the destruction that we spread
As we rotate and move in circles around the sun
Moisture rises, condenses in the air
Like
Karma in life
The rain will fall with exhaust from our cars and inexpensive manufacturing
Sunbeams shine through the smog no longer filtered by the ozone Or beautified
by the celestial sky
Abnormal cell growth and puddles we can't play in
All come about through our normal life
Cities and conveniences
Buying things that are meaningless
And other addictions that we design
Is all a part of polluted life?
Infecting out water and light
In this one of my bad dreams
